Three key shifts over the past year have forced industries to rethink how they operate

Shift to remote work: Organizations of all types face difficult and hard choices today. They’re trying to save costs, reimagine their operations, redirect productivity, re-engage customers, and work with the nuances of remote work and development.

A Gartner study predicts 41% of employees will work remotely after the current pandemic as compared to only 30% before.1

The need for resilience and transformation is strengthened by the fact that pre-COVID, 55% of surveyed businesses were focused on efficiency as opposed to resilience, making them more fragile and vulnerable.2

Evolving workforce expectations: As the world continues to rapidly embrace technological advancements, the next generation entering the workforce demands digitized and advanced workplaces in line with their digital-centric lives, where mobile applications and digitized services dominate everyday living. In fact, 35% of the workforce is currently digital-native millennials who demand better digital experiences in workplace.3 Add to this the rate at which the demand for online engagements and digitized operations is increasing and we have ourselves a world where it’s just not enough for businesses to show resilience through traditional business applications or systems. In fact, the demand for mobile apps is growing 5 times faster than IT departments can deliver.4

Economic downturn: Besides the shift to remote work and the changing workforce expectations, the state of economies around the world has only made things more complex and harder for businesses. The US alone has seen a 6.1% contraction in Gross Domestic Product in 2020the most severe recession since the end of World War II.5 The need for digital transformation is heightened by the fact that 92% business leaders agree there’s a need to enable process automation to flourish in the post-pandemic world.6

Although businesses need more applications and digitized experiences, building every solution using existing applications development processes is no longer the answer.
